- Never let your babies play in the bathroom or leave them alone as they could fall into the toilet.
- Never leave a bucket, pail or container of water lying around. If you must, ensure that it is well covered to avoid the baby dropping into it.
- Empty all buckets and store upside down.
- Never leave a child unsupervised in the bathtub. If you must leave the room, wrap your baby in a towel and take him or her with you.
- Supervise the baby whenever you are in a swimming pool, always ensure that you hold them close to you especially during the crawling phase.
- Always wipe off any water or urine that may be on the floor to avoid the baby slipping and falling.

- Try not to self-medicate your baby. Take your baby to a health provider before giving any medication.
- Read all medicine labels 3 times before giving it to your baby to ensure that you are certain on how much medicine to give, how to give it and how often to give it.
- Keep all medicines out of the reach of babies and children.
- Shake the medicine well.
- Train all the care providers to learn how to administer the medication.
