Does butternut have any side effects on babies? I’ve been told by two different people it has side effects, like my baby will turn yellow if he’s given regularly and by another, it will affect my baby’s immunity.
Kindly help

Butternut is a vegetable that belongs to the pumpkin family. It is a good source of Vitamin A and beta-carotene and other minerals. However, eating too much of it can cause a condition called carotenemia. High levels of beta-carotene can cause a yellowish discoloration of the skin, most noticeable on the palms and soles. Carotenemia usually seen in young children, is not toxic and generally does not cause other health problems. It is better to vary your child’s diet instead of giving one food too many times.
