I’m not a mum, but my wife seems to have a problem. After giving birth, her leg is still swollen. We have gone for several checkups and they have said there is nothing wrong with the leg. What could it be?

Soon after birth, most women do experience what is known as postpartum edema and can have swelling of the hands, legs and feet. This swelling is rarely serious and gradually disappears within a week as your body eliminates the excess fluid you retained during the last few months of your pregnancy.
