What causes hydrocephalus?

Some causes of hydrocephalus are unexplained but some of the factors that may cause it include:

  1. A birth defect in which the spinal column doesn’t close.
    2. A genetic abnormality during conception and pregnancy.
    3. Some infections that the mother gets that occur during pregnancy, such as rubella or measles.

Early treatment and intervention is the best course of action for a baby diagnosed with this condition.
