Getting pregnant after a miscarriage

196

Losing a baby through a miscarriage is often traumatizing for most women regardless of the duration of the pregnancy. It is common to find women in such situations struggling to balance the emotions associated with the lost pregnancy and their desire to conceive again. Majority of medical professionals in Kenya encourage mothers to try for another baby when they feel physically and emotionally ready. Most times, conception happens within a short time if you do not have any medical condition that would hinder conception.

Even so, there are a number of things to keep in mind when planning to conceive after a miscarriage so that your chances of success are much higher.

Seek medical advice

Although most miscarriages happen spontaneously, it is always advisable to get checked by a doctor. The doctor will run tests and give feedback on whether you can try getting pregnant again. If you have had consecutive miscarriages, then further tests can be done to determine the cause and solutions provided to increase chances of conception.

Take pregnancy vitamins

Prenatal vitamins prepare the body for carrying a pregnancy, which makes it important to take them when trying for a baby after a miscarriage. Common vitamins for pregnant women in Kenya are folic acid tablets and any other recommended by your doctor.

Avoid stress

It is normal to be anxious when trying to conceive after a miscarriage but you should not let it lead to stress. Medical professionals sometimes associate delayed conception with stress, meaning that doing your best to be relaxed and have fun is the best way to get pregnant quickly.
