Hey. Am 33 weeks pregnant and feeling quick sharp shooting pains in my cervix. Is this an alarm for labour?
Towards the end of your pregnancy, a hormone is released that causes your pelvic ligaments and muscles to relax and stretch in readiness of labor and to accommodate the baby. Your baby’s head will probably also be down and this will add pressure to your pelvic area. Because of all these you might experience this kind of pain and pressure which may be quite uncomfortable. You can speak to your doctor for options of mild safe painkillers to ease the pain. Mild exercise and a hot water bottle or ice pack around your lower abdomen might also offer some relief. However, if you do start feeling the pain becoming too intense or have any bleeding or have pains that come and go at regular intervals, please see your doctor immediately.
