Is it dangerous/safe to breastfeed a baby while lying in bed?

Breastfeeding in bed has been done by women for many generations. Studies have shown that it helps mums get better rest during the breastfeeding period.  However, to do this safely, the baby must be positioned properly. This position is known as side-lying position. Here are tips to do this:

Lie on your side using a pillow to support your head and neck, and another along your back if needed, next, lay your baby next to you so that her mouth is opposite your nipple. A small rolled blanket behind her back may also help. Support the base of her head between your thumb and forefinger. Finally ensuring that her body is close to yours, latch on the baby ensuring that her nose is clear.
