Hey Baby Banda. My baby is 4 months 3 weeks. She has refused to breastfeed. I am tired of feeding her with a bottle she refuses. She only breast feeds when she wants to sleep. I want to start weaning her. What should I start her with? I know it’s too early but I don’t have a choice

We would advise that you still try to encourage her to breastfeed especially when she is hungry. Supplement with express milk given in a cup and spoon instead of a bottle. It is recommended that if you cannot sustain exclusive breastfeeding completely then you can supplement with infant formula. Giving your baby solid foods too early can cause problems because:
• Your baby may not drink enough breast milk or formula.
• Your baby’s system is not ready to digest solid food.
• Your baby’s risk of being anemic (low iron) increases.
• Your baby’s risk of developing eczema (skin disorder) increases.
• Your baby’s risk of developing allergies increases.
• Your baby may choke if she is not ready to swallow solid foods.
• Studies show that giving babies solid foods will not help them sleep through the night
