I am about 10 weeks and having bad nausea bouts as well as appetite loss; what can I eat to prevent nausea? I have recently been craving salty things and top of my list is salt, whenever my saliva feels funny I always pick salt. Is this harmful to my baby? What can I use to get the salt feeling if salt is not good for me?

Nausea in early pregnancy is usually brought on by the pregnancy hormonal changes.  Some tips to cope include

  • Get plenty of rest
  • Nausea is sometimes smell related, try and avoid strong smells
  • Avoid getting hungry, carry small snacks with you to eat before you actually get hungry
  • Take plenty of fluids
  • Ask you doctor for relief medication
  • Ginger, mints, lemon water, crackers

Try cold foods like salads, sandwiches etc
