I am one month into pregnancy and just the site of food or drinks like milk leaves me feeling so nauseated and I vomit seriously. This is preventing me from eating food and drinking fluids. How do I go about this?

This is a common discomfort of pregnancy especially during the first trimester caused mainly due to hormonal changes. Here are a few tips to help you through this time.

Eat small meals and snacks frequently; feeling empty or hungry can make the nausea worse.

Drink whatever is palatable in small quantities through the day.

Avoid anything that may trigger your nausea such e.g. spicy food, tea, coffee, milk.

Avoid strong smells.

Sudden movements such as jumping out of bed or running can make you feel sick.

Get plenty of rest as nausea is often worse when you are tired.

Talk to your doctor to prescribe some medication that may help you feel a bit better.
