My baby turned 6 months today; I have been feeding her on S-26 formula milk while I am at work, then breastfeed her in the evening and weekends. I introduced her to Butternut pumpkins 2 weeks ago and she seems to be enjoying them. I would like to know what other solid food I should introduce her to and also fruits. I hear bananas are not good for babies?
The most important factor to consider when you start weaning is that you need to meet your babies high energy needs. At about 6 months or once infants are ready to start eating solid foods, infants should be introduced to iron-rich or iron-fortified foods. Meat and iron-fortified cereals are good sources of iron and are good foods to start feeding to children. This is also a good time to begin introducing vegetables, fruits, and some grain products. A wide range of starchy vegetables which include potato, banana (matoke), arrow roots, sweet potato.
