Try to separate nursing with sleep to reduce the dependency of your baby needing to breastfeed to be able to go back to sleep. When he wakes up at night, if possible, have someone else offer him water and soothe him back to sleep. Try and do this consistently ; if you do this for several nights, he may start not to expect the breast at night. Try and breastfeed him well during other times of the day.
