Good morning, first I want to congratulate you for the commendable job you guys are doing and thank you for the help you’ve given me. Your complementary feeding articles couldn’t have been more timely. I’ll be weaning in the next couple of days and I have some questions 1. What kind of oil is the best to make babies food to make it energy dense? 2. How many fruit servings should the baby get per day? And do fruits substitute the snack? Thanks in advance.
You can use the oil that you usually use to prepare your family meals. Examples are sunflower oil, olive oil, vegetable oils etc. Other good sources of fat are butter, coconut, avocado, cod liver oil. On fruit servings, initially your baby should get 1 fruit serving and it should constitute one of the snacks. You could mix two to three fruits to ensure variety. As your baby grows you can give up to two fruit servings as part of the snacks
