What do you expect at the age of 3, 6, 9 months in terms of child development?
Below are signs of development that you should look out for in the 3rd, 6th, 9th months upto and including one year:
By the 3rd Month:
– Turning in bed and leaning on four arms and holding the head up.
– They should also open their palms.
– A smile should be expected. Bubbling and engage in a conversation although saying nothing understandable.
– Looks at their hands and turns them around.
– If the door bangs, the baby should turn towards the door.
6th month
– Should start to sit up.
– Exchange something from one hand to another.
9th month
– Start crawling. Not all babies crawl anyway. Some stand and walk.
– Should use furniture to support them to stand.
– Should pick up objects with their fingers; the pincer grip.
– They should be entertained by small baby games.
– The try imitate common sounds.
1 year
– Should start walking with support.
– Should start feeding themselves with a spoon.
– Make small sentences and imitate actions.
– Explore new ways to play.
