I am a first time mother and my daughter is 2 months old. Since I will be going back to work in a month, am trying to bottle feed her. I feel I am not making progress because she wails and refuses the bottle. I hate to see her cry and I end up breast feeding her. How can I do this more easily?
Most babies would usually reject the bottle when it is first introduced. Firstly, ensure that another caregiver feeds the baby and not you. Experiment with different bottles as babies would sometimes reject one type and accept the other. Ensure that earlier on, the other caregiver has spent time with the baby so that the baby does not perceive them as strangers; babies feel safe with familiar voices and smells. If your baby initially rejects, you can also try and cup feed instead. Do continue offering the bottle often and they soon adjust and start bottle feeding.
